Privacy Policy.
Falcon is private by design. Here is exactly how your data is handled. Spoiler: nothing you import is ever sent to us.
Last updated: 25 September 2026
Falcon File Manager (Falcon, the app, we) is a private, on-device media vault. Privacy is the core of how the app is designed.
We do not collect your data
Falcon has no user accounts. We do not collect, sell, or share any personal information or any of your files, and nothing you import or create is ever sent to us. The one thing Falcon sends us is an automatic crash report when something goes wrong, which contains no files and no personal information, and is described below.
Some features (Wi-Fi Transfer and Portal) can move or stream files directly between your own devices over your local network, at your request. This traffic stays on your Wi-Fi and never reaches us or any server.
Your files stay on your device
All media, documents, folders, and settings you add to Falcon are stored locally on your device. Falcon has no cloud sync of its own, and it only uploads a file when you ask it to, to cloud storage you have connected yourself (see below). We cannot access your files.
Linked folders show files where they already are, such as iCloud Drive or On My iPhone, through iOS. Falcon reads them in place and does not copy them anywhere.
Device backups: your content may be included in standard iOS backups (iCloud Backup or an encrypted computer backup) if you have those enabled in your device settings. Those backups are Apple-encrypted and controlled by you, not by Falcon. To exclude the vault from iCloud Backup, turn that off in iOS Settings.
Cloud storage you connect
You can choose to connect your own Dropbox, OneDrive or Box account, to browse, play and manage the files you keep there. When you do:
- You sign in on the provider's own page. Falcon never sees your password.
- Your sign-in stays on your device. The provider gives Falcon an access token, which is kept only in your device's Keychain and is never sent to us. Removing the account in Falcon signs it out and deletes the token. You can also withdraw Falcon's access at any time from your provider account's settings.
- Your files go directly between your device and the provider. Browsing, playing, uploading and downloading never pass through us.
- Box sign-in uses a small Falcon service. Box requires its sign-in steps to include a private app key that must not be stored inside an app. So for Box only, signing in and the automatic renewal of your session (about once an hour) go through a small service we run at auth.falconfilemanager.com, hosted by Cloudflare. It adds that key, passes Box's reply straight back to your device, and keeps no record: nothing is stored or logged. It never sees your password or your files.
What you store with a provider is covered by that provider's own privacy policy.
Permissions
Falcon may ask for these permissions, all used only on your device:
- Photos: browsing your Photos library and importing photos and videos into the vault, and saving photos back to it when you choose to.
- Camera: scanning documents into the vault and scanning Portal pairing codes. Falcon does not request microphone access.
- Apple Music library: browsing and playing the songs, albums and artists already on your device.
- Local Network: connecting to your other devices (Portal and Wi-Fi Transfer) and discovering nearby devices to cast to, such as a Chromecast or smart TV. This stays on your local network and is never sent to us or the cloud.
- Face ID / Touch ID: unlocking protected folders on your device.
No tracking or analytics
Falcon contains no advertising, no analytics, and no third-party tracking. We do not profile you, build a user record, or share anything with data brokers or advertisers. Nothing is recorded about how you use the app. The one exception is automatic crash reports, described next.
Crash reports
Falcon uses Sentry to receive automatic crash and error reports, so that faults can be found and fixed. A report contains technical information about the failure: the error, where in the code it happened, your device model and iOS version, and the app version.
It does not contain your files, and it is not linked to you. Specifically:
- File and folder names are removed before a report leaves your device. Only a file extension may remain, because a fault often depends on the format.
- No account, name, email or advertising identifier is attached, because Falcon holds none.
- No IP address or location is stored. Falcon does not attach your IP to a report, and Sentry is configured not to retain the IP of the connection or derive a location from it.
- No usage or behaviour is recorded. Reports are only produced when something goes wrong.
Sentry handles these reports on our behalf and does not use them for its own purposes. They are processed on Sentry's servers in the United States.
App updates
When Falcon launches it asks our update service whether a newer version of the app is available, and downloads it if so. This request carries no personal information and none of your files. It only serves app updates. Apart from crash reports, this update check and the Box sign-in service described above, Falcon sends nothing to us on its own. The Wi-Fi Transfer, Portal and casting features move your files directly between your own devices over your local network, at your request, and never reach us.
Purchases
In-app purchases are handled entirely by Apple. Falcon never receives your payment details.
Children
Falcon does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children.
Changes
This policy may be updated from time to time, with the revised date shown above.
