Tap + Add at the top of any folder:

• Import from Photos copies photos and videos from your photo library.
• Import from Files copies files from Apple's Files app, including iCloud Drive and anything else on your device.

Importing makes a copy, so the original stays where it was.

You can also:

• Share from another app: tap Share and choose Falcon.
• Send files from your computer with Wi-Fi Transfer in Settings.
• Copy files into the Falcon folder in the Files app (On My iPhone or On My iPad). They appear in Falcon when you next open it.

To use files where they already are, without copying anything, tap + Add and choose Linked Folders & Cloud: a Linked Folder for folders on your device, iCloud Drive or a USB drive, or sign in to Dropbox, OneDrive or Box (see below).

A Linked Folder shows a folder that lives somewhere else, on your device, in iCloud Drive or on a USB drive, inside Falcon, without copying it. Nothing is duplicated, so it takes no extra space.

To add one, tap + Add, choose Linked Folders & Cloud, then Linked Folder (requires Falcon Pro), pick the folder and tap Open.

You can browse, play and open everything in it like any other folder. Changes work both ways: adding, renaming, moving or deleting in Falcon changes the original folder, and changes made in other apps show up in Falcon. Editing can be switched off with Allow editing linked folders in Folder Settings.

Anything you delete from a Linked Folder goes to Falcon's Trash while Use Trash is on, so it can be restored.

Removing a Linked Folder from Falcon only removes the link: the original folder and its files are untouched.

Yes. Tap + Add, choose Linked Folders & Cloud, then pick Dropbox, OneDrive or Box and sign in on the provider's own page (requires Falcon Pro). You can connect more than one account of each.

Your cloud files then appear in Falcon like any other folder, without being copied onto your device. You can play and open them, add new files, and rename, move or delete them. Files download when you open them, so you need a connection.

Anything you delete goes to that service's own deleted files, where it can be restored.

iCloud Drive works through the Linked Folder option in the same place, and files from any other cloud service can be brought in with + Add > Import from Files.

Removing an account from Falcon signs it out and removes it from Falcon only: nothing in your cloud storage is changed.

To see how much space you have, open Info on the account’s folder on Home (swipe it, or select it and tap Info): it shows the storage used and how much is free.

Music Library is accessible from the side panel and is built from your own audio files: any audio files you have imported or linked from another folder. Music Library scans the metadata of each file and groups them by artist, album, genre and year using the tags inside the files.

My Music can be enabled in settings, and adds a ‘My Music’ folder to your home directory. This is your device's Apple Music / iTunes library. Nothing is copied into Falcon: songs, playlists and artwork come straight from the Music app.

Everything you import or create is stored on your device, inside the app. Falcon has no cloud of its own and no account.

Linked Folders and connected cloud storage stay where they are: Falcon shows them without copying them.

If you have iCloud Backup turned on, your Falcon files are included in your normal device backup, by your choice.

Yes. Files is Apple's own file browser, the app with the blue folder icon that comes with every iPhone and iPad. Open it, choose On My iPhone (or On My iPad), and you will find a Falcon folder containing your folders and files. It appears there once you have added something to Falcon.

Linked Folders and cloud storage are not inside it, because their files stay where they already are.

Locked folders are hidden from the Files app, so they do not appear there.

You never need the Files app to use Falcon. It is simply another way to reach or copy your files.

Deleting Falcon deletes everything stored inside it, permanently. iOS removes an app's files along with the app, and they cannot be recovered afterwards.

Linked Folders, cloud storage and My Music are not affected, because those files live outside Falcon.

Before deleting the app, copy anything you want to keep: use Wi-Fi Transfer, Share, or the Files app. If you only need to free up space, use Offload App in your device's storage settings instead, which removes the app but keeps its files.

Falcon's files are included in your normal device backup, whether that is iCloud Backup or a backup to a computer. Restore that backup onto a new iPhone or iPad and your library comes back with it.

To keep your own copy as well, download files to a computer with Wi-Fi Transfer, or copy the Falcon folder in the Files app.

No. Importing makes a copy inside Falcon and leaves the original where it was, whether it came from Photos or from Files.

If you want a photo or video to exist only in Falcon, delete the original yourself afterwards. In Photos, remember to empty Recently Deleted too.

Long-press a folder and choose Lock from the selection panel at the bottom, then set a four-digit passcode.

From then on, opening the folder uses Face ID or Touch ID automatically where available, with the passcode as the fallback.

Folder lock requires Falcon Pro.

If Face ID or Touch ID is set up, it will still open the folder, and you can then remove the lock and set a new passcode.

Without that, there is no way to recover or reset a passcode. The passcode screen offers Forgot passcode?, which deletes the folder and everything inside it, permanently. It does not open it.

Choose a passcode you will remember, and keep a copy elsewhere of anything you cannot afford to lose.

Not by Falcon itself. Your files are kept as ordinary files in Falcon's own storage on your device, protected by iOS and by your device's built-in encryption whenever it is locked with a passcode.

A folder lock hides the folder and asks for a passcode, Face ID or Touch ID before opening it inside Falcon. It does not encrypt the contents.

The one exception is password-protected Zip archives, which Falcon encrypts with AES-256.

If you mean the row of five icons above your folders, that's the layout toolbar. Pull the screen down and a label appears above each button. In order, they are:

• Grid or list view
• MThumbnail resize
• Padding on / off
• Thumbnail aspect ratio
• Hide names (in grid view), or hide thumbnails (in list view)

Yes, when Trash is enabled. Deleted items move to the Trash (Settings > Trash), where you can restore them.

Anything deleted from Dropbox, OneDrive or Box goes to that service's own deleted files instead, and can be restored there.

Video: MP4, MOV, M4V, MKV, AVI, WMV, FLV, WebM, MPEG and more.

Audio: MP3, M4A, M4B audiobooks, AAC, FLAC, WAV, OGG, Opus, AIFF and more.

Open Settings and turn on Wi-Fi Transfer, then enter the address it shows into a web browser on your computer. Both devices need to be on the same Wi-Fi.

From there you can upload files to Falcon and download files from it.

Open a video and use either the AirPlay button (bottom left) or the cast button (bottom right), then pick your TV or device in the window that appears.

Supports Screen Mirroring, Google Cast and DLNA.

Go to Settings and choose Restore Purchases, signed in with the same Apple ID you bought it with.

No. Falcon does not track you, show ads, or send your files to us.

If you connect your own cloud storage, your files go directly between your device and that service, and your sign-in is kept only on this device. For Box, signing in passes through a small Falcon service that stores nothing.

The only thing Falcon sends us is an automatic crash report if something goes wrong, containing no files and nothing that identifies you. See our privacy policy.
